Combine in large bowl:
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. oil
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
1 t. baking soda
1 t. ginger
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves
1 c. whole wheat flour
Beat until well mixed. Add:
1 1/4 c. white flour
Mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375 for 8 minutes, or until tops are cracked. Cool.
